Hello everybody,

I am having some problems with the email support feature of Peffisaur and was hoping someone could help me.
In order to send an MMS to my Peffisaur's email account what do I have to do :
-send an MMS with an image included to my email account?
-send an MMS with an image attached to my email account?
-is it possible to use a mail client (like in SonyEricsson P800) to send the mail to Peffisaur ?

In fact I've tried it in all the way but none seems to work properly since none of my MMS are displayed on Peffisaur's site.

Thanks for your help.
Coni

Hi Coni,

You just attach the image to the email you send to the address you got, that's all. The subject will become the header.

There's a documentation miss though. It says that you shall set you MSISDN in your preferences for this to work. This is not really true all the time though I have noticed. What you shall write in the MSISDN field in your preferences is whatever comes before the @-sign in the from-field of the email you send. It just happens to be the case that some operators (and I thought all) puts the MSISDN (aka phone number) there.

If you don't know what your operator sets as from field then I suggest you just send the MMS to your regular email account.

If you are using a regular email client it is easier to determine the from address. So for instance since my email is stefan <at> hellkvist <dot> org I simply put stefan in the MSISDN field. Then I can post messages using my regular email client and the P800 one should work as well.

Feel free to ask if it still doesn't work for you.

Hi Peffis,

Tanks for your response and your help. I've modified my preferences changing my MSISDN with my mail "username" and it's working fine now.
I still have a few questions :
- Is it possible to attache more than one picture to the email ?
- Can we use MMS to email to post MMS using the mail support ?
I think it was not working with me since my operator was setting the mail FROM with "+352021494239/TYPE=PLMN@mms.luxgsm.lu". So if I understood what you explained in the previous post, I should set my MSISDN with "+352021494239/TYPE=PLMN" in order to use MMS to email to post my MMS. Am I right ? (i can't test it now since my operator's MMSc doesn't seem to work)

Good that it's working...

It is possible to attach more than one picture to each message. They are all stored in the database and in the file system. Right now however only the first image is shown and only the first text found is shown under that image. The plan is to have small icons for all the other images. Simply inserting all images and texts (and whatever) found like I do in MMS Diary makes the layout ugly on the page I think.

Yes, sending an MMS to email should work and you are guessing righ. If your operator has such a from-address on messages then you should set your MSISDN field to what you suggests. Whatever comes before the @-sign should be in the MSISDN-field (which now is a very misleading name of that preference I know...)

I tried to send images using MMS but it doesn't work for me. I think that it comes from a little problem in the "edit your preferences" part.
In fact I can specify whatever I want in the MSISDN (I put "+352021494239/TYPE=PLMN") field but when I saved and went back to my preferences the MSISDN field indicates "+352021494239/TYPE=P".
As you can see my informations has been truncated since the MSISDN field seems to be limited to 20 characters. Can you confirm that and modify it so we can put a longer string for that field.
Thanks.

Nicolas

Oups, that's a bug. Unfortunately it's the size in the database that is too limited. The table looks like this:
create table users (
id int not null primary key auto_increment,
nickname char(40) not null,
startdate date,
lastlogin datetime,
lastupload datetime,
phonepwd char(32),
portalpwd char(32),
nuploads int,
nkbytes int,
nwcomments int,
nrcomments int,
firstname varchar(255),
surname varchar(255),
country varchar(255),
homepage varchar(255),
email varchar(255),
msisdn char(20),
wantnews int,
timedelta int,
banned int
);

So as you already know...it's limited to 20. It's really easy to fix though....but I'm not at home and don't have access to the server in any proper way (only have a shitty windows laptop here) so it will have to wait till I get back home again in the end of next week or so (I'm in Malaysia right now as you might have seen from my posts on peffis.com)

It's what I was thinking about. I had the same problem with data being truncated due to database definitions where the size was not big enough.
Moreover it's difficult to forsee what the MSISDN's size will be since operator seems to build their home made "FROM" during the MMS to Mail conversion. As I know there is no specification on this topic.
Don't worry for the MySQL (I think that's what you're using) modification. I can use the mail client from my P800 to post pictures. It was more to know where the problem was : in your application or in my phone configuration.
Thanks for your help and continue posting pictures from Malaysia.
