Discovery Civilisation channel on TV

Can someone explain to me why, whenever I put on
the "Discovery Civilisation" channel on TV, they are 
showing programs about all different kinds of war 
ships, tanks, cannons etc etc? Isn't that just the 
opposite of civilisation? Like...the end of it??
